No agency controls Google. Google says so itself: nobody can guarantee a top ranking, and an SEO who promises one should be avoided. What a good agency can do is remove the technical obstacles that stop your site being crawled and understood, make your pages answer what people actually search for, strengthen your local presence and earn attention from other sites. Your request goes to one agency, and we tell you which before it sees your details.

  • Exactly one business. Your request is handed out once. After that, no other business sees it.
  • You know who will be in touch. Before the business receives your contact details, we send you its name, address and phone number.
  • Withdraw at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time – using the link in our email.

What SEO work actually consists of

Technical SEO deals with how search engines reach and read your site: page speed, mobile display, indexing, duplicate pages, redirects, structured data and sitemaps. On-page work makes each page's title, headings and content match a clear search intent. Content work adds pages or guides that answer questions your customers ask. Local SEO covers your Google Business Profile, map listings and location pages. Off-site work, often called digital PR, tries to earn mentions and links from other reputable sites.

An audit is a sensible first step when you do not know where the problems are. It should end in a prioritised list of fixes with an estimate of the effort, not a hundred-page export from a tool. Ask who will make the changes: some agencies implement them, others hand the list to your web developer.

Where the agency's influence ends

Rankings depend on your competitors, on changes Google makes to its systems, on how search results are laid out, and increasingly on AI-generated answers that sometimes satisfy the searcher without a click. An agency can influence your site and your reputation; it cannot influence those. That is why sensible targets are about outcomes you can measure, such as enquiries, calls and sales from organic search, and why progress is judged over months rather than weeks.

Be sceptical of anyone who guarantees positions, claims a special relationship with Google or offers to submit your site with priority. Google's own guidance warns against exactly these claims. Equally, a fixed monthly fee with no agreed activities and no link to your business results is hard to judge.

Briefing an agency

Tell the agency what you sell, where you sell it and which work is most profitable, because ranking for a service you would rather not do is wasted effort. Name your main competitors in search, which are not always your competitors in the street. Mention past SEO work too, especially if a previous supplier built links, since that history can matter.

Give access rather than handing over ownership. The agency will need Google Search Console and your analytics, ideally starting with read-only access, and later access to your content management system. Keep the accounts in your company's name so the data stays with you if the agency leaves.

  • the services and areas you want more work in
  • your website platform and who can change it
  • Search Console and analytics access
  • previous SEO or link-building work
  • how you measure an enquiry or sale today
  • who in your business can supply facts, photos and case studies

Links, content and the risks you carry

Buying links that pass ranking credit breaks Google's spam policies, and the consequences land on your domain, not on the agency. Ask where links will come from and how they are obtained. Digital PR that earns coverage because you have something worth reporting is slower but does not leave you exposed.

Content written for you should become yours. Copyright stays with its author unless it is assigned to you in writing, so make sure the contract transfers the rights to articles and pages you pay for. Otherwise you may have to remove them if you part with the agency.

Contracts and reporting

SEO is sold as a one-off project, such as an audit or a migration, or as a monthly retainer. For a retainer, check the minimum term and notice period, and ask for a monthly plan of activities. Reports should use your own Search Console and analytics data and show clicks, enquiries and the pages that brought them, with an honest note of what did not work.

In Ireland: data protection and registration

The GDPR applies to tracking and customer data; in Ireland the Data Protection Commission is the supervisory authority. If a supplier processes personal data on your behalf, you need a data processing agreement.

Irish companies are registered with the Companies Registration Office. Ask for the company number and VAT number, and check whether prices are quoted with or without VAT.

How your request reaches one business

You confirm your mobile number with a text code and your email address with a link. We then show the request to businesses in your area, without your name or contact details. Only one business can take it on; it pays Offrano for the request, and it costs you nothing.

Before that business sees your details, we email you its name, address and phone number. We check only that it is a registered business, for example through its Companies Registration Office entry or VAT number, not the quality of its work. We cannot promise that a business will respond; if nobody takes the request within 21 days, we withdraw it. Offrano is not a party to any contract for the work.

Frequently asked questions

Can an SEO agency guarantee first place on Google?

No. Google states that no one can guarantee a top ranking and advises against agencies that promise one. An honest agency will set targets around traffic, enquiries or sales and explain what it will do to influence them.

How long does SEO take to show results?

Technical fixes can show an effect once Google recrawls the pages, but most work, especially content and reputation building, needs months. Much depends on the competition in your area and sector. Ask the agency what it expects to see at each stage and how it will report it.

Is it safe to buy links for our website?

No. Buying links that pass ranking credit breaks Google's spam policies, and any penalty affects your domain rather than the agency. Ask any agency where its links come from before you agree to link-building work.

Who regulates data protection in Ireland?

The Data Protection Commission, under the GDPR.

What does the request cost me?

Nothing. The business that takes on your request pays Offrano for it. Whether you accept its quote is entirely up to you.

Why does only one business get my request?

So that you are not called by several firms at once. The business that takes it on has the request to itself.

Ready to make your request?

Describe your project – your request goes to exactly one business.
