Gas safety record in practice
Landlords must have gas appliances and flues they provide checked every 12 months by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The engineer issues a gas safety record listing what was checked and any defects found.
Existing tenants must receive a copy within 28 days of the check, and new tenants before they move in. A check can be carried out up to two months before the deadline without losing the original anniversary date.
