Parking bay suspension in practice

Reserving kerbside space for a removal van or building work is done through a parking bay suspension or dispensation from the local council. Each council sets its own process, notice period and fees, and suspended bays are marked with temporary signs.

Notice periods range from a few working days to two weeks or more depending on the council, so apply early. Many removal companies apply on their customers' behalf; ask whether the fee is included in the quote.
