Building Control in practice
Building Control bodies check plans, inspect work at key stages and issue a completion certificate once they are satisfied that work complies with the Building Regulations. Where an installer is not registered with a competent person scheme for a type of notifiable work, a building notice or application has to be made to Building Control before work starts.
Completion certificates are among the documents a buyer's solicitor asks for when a home is sold, so keep them with the deeds.
